Summary: Not exactly hard case, but better than neoprene 2010-08-31
Comment: I was looking for something with crush protection, without adding too much bulk. I'm also a bit of a cheapskate, so an aluminum case was out of the question.
This case has what feels like a thin plastic with rounded edges sandwiched between the fabric covers front and back, and will do a nice job of protecting the computer from puncture damage, but the section right next to the zipper area doesn't have the hard plastic, so it is still possible to push the front and back of the case inward and crush the computer inside.
I think it will be better protection than a neoprene case, it really doesn't meet my meaning of the description of "hard case" as it is not crush proof.
